Work / Life balance are the words on everyones' lips these days, and when speaking with new clients, a common topic brought up is "time". A lot of people assume that they need to change their whole schedule to fit in 3-4 sessions a week, and apply an all or nothing approach to exercise.
The truth is, unless you are a professional athlete, or getting ready for a competition, you can get away with 2-3 sessions a week, and make up the rest with more daily steps. Think of it more of a monthly thing, 10 sessions in a month is way better than a lifestyle of 0 sessions per month.
The key here is balance, countless times we have seen clients start 3-4 sessions a week, and after the first month, they burn out, realise this isn’t sustainable, and quit the whole thing. Why not start with 2 sessions a week, and maintain this throughout your life?
A final point to remember is that every 6-8 weeks, it is recommended to do a de-load week, where you do very light exercise or even none at all, allowing your body to rest and recover. Remember that our bodies make the changes when we are resting, rather than during the exercise itself.
Speaking more on the work life balance, another common mistake people make is that they turn exercise into a chore/something they have to do on their daily tasks, which means that after a 9-5 day, and an evening workout, they only get time to themselves at around 8/9pm! Why not see the exercise as your wind down time, your chance to not think of work, errands, etc, and also an excuse to let your frustration out!
Based in East London/Essex, sending out a personal trainer for home visits is what we specialise in, to further cut down the time this takes from your day. 60 mins per session at your own home, should hopefully eradicate all the mental barriers you are facing in regards to fitness.
