FITNESS TIPS

Welcome to the Fitness Tips page, where every month we give free information on a certain topic related to exercise. Ranging from training methods, to nutrition advice for weight loss, muscle gain, etc.

We also have started a *NEW* monthly blog, where we discuss all things outside of training tips, and nutrition advice.

Fitness tip of the month: Progressive Overload

What is progressive overload?

Progressive overload is a great way to break through plateaus, in the simplest form it means increasing the weight, reps, sets, or decreasing the rest time. This forces your body to respond to new stimulus, and the results = gains. There are no set rules for when you should progressively overload, but generally speaking, it can be every week, or two weeks.

This is a great way to challenge yourself mentally, keep things fresh, and keep your mind focused on new goals. We highly recommend keeping track of your "personal best". Your personal best is the maximum amount of weight/sets you can manage, per exercise. Not only does this adhere to a structured approach, but also we have seen the positive change that this can create in clients, due to having new motivation/goals to achieve.

Progressive overload works great for building muscle, and strength, but can also be applied for cardiovascular fitness, speed, etc.
